Yes bro I finished it 2 weeks ago. Was a great novel. My favorite part was the first 5-7 chapters in the wasteland. Then I really enjoyed during the long wilderness trek when the fake German confessed he stole his roommate's identity.

Thanks bro I love you guys. I still check Twitter every day and I've taken something like 90,000 screenshots of Based tweets in the past 6 months.

It's just a huge time sink and I think the American domestic situation is kind of frozen in Boomer denial for the next few years so Fedpoasting seems like a poor form of expression, the most it will do is get good idealistic people to ruin their lives trying to be heroes.

FrogTwitter is the best group of genius, brave, aspirational men I've interacted with in years, it's a source of incredible insights, and the formative art scene is cutting edge — which strongly contrasts against the overall ossified stagnation and decay of cinema, television, comics, and literature elsewhere.

I'll keep publishing Substacks for a while, 2 or 3 per month, and a lot about various literary techniques, that's where my current passion is.

I definitely miss singing and croaking in the swamp with my brother frogs. Band of modern heroes.

Interesting enough, South Korea seems to be putting out some great movies atm. Train to Busan, Squid Game, Parasite, Snowpiercer, etc. It's like a nice indie scene with its own vibe.

About Automaton, I thought there were a ton of really cool moments and fascinating scenes. For example:

1.) The psycho Donahue was a really good character, an excellent villain. His rape in Chapter 2 was grotesque and terrifying. Messed up but really written well. And I loved when he told the main character they were best friends, that was poignant, surprising, dysfunctional, and felt plausible.

2.) I loved how the main character had forgotten to deactivate, that was really cool. Very compelling antihero, memorable iconic character.

3.) Really cool exposition in the early bar scene about how some Automaton was captured by the Iranian military and got tortured for hours but was totally expressionless.

4.) Great scene where the main character is traveling with a bunch of other people and then another Automaton sneaks up behind him and almost kills him, but then they have a tense dialogue scene and the new Automaton is kind a mirror shadow nemesis of the hero.

5.) I really liked the subplot where Donahue was pretending like he didn't know the main character, and then the group distrust was turning against the hero and everybody was considering killing him, so then Donahue concussed a sentry and the next day the Automaton main hero volunteers to take his place — earning the group's trust.

6.) The woman cuckolding the rebel guide was pretty messed up, but good character dynamic, felt very real.
